šŸ§  The Cheat Code to Doing 100 Hours of Work In Less Than 50

Hey there,Ā

Welcome back to the 39th edition of Brandish,Ā

Your guide to crafting an iconic brand.Ā

I spent way too much time deciding on what to write about this week,Ā

Which is,Ā

Ironically,Ā

Exactly what weā€™re going to be talking about.Ā

So, without further ado,Ā

Kick back,Ā

Grab your Brez,Ā

And letā€™s talk about how you can do 100 hours of work a week in less than 50.Ā

9-5 Isnā€™t RealisticĀ

Managing your time correctly is arguably the most important skill you can master if you want to be successful in ANY industry,Ā

Especially business.

But with that being said - having a ā€œ9-5ā€ schedule isnā€™t realistic.Ā

Think about it,Ā

Every single human being is wired a little differently.Ā

We all have different habits, learning styles, processes for solving problemsā€¦

So how the f*ck is one set work schedule supposed to be the right fit for everyone?

(Hint: Itā€™s not)Ā

Now, Iā€™m not talking about the hours of 9-5.

Iā€™m talking about what you DO within those hours.

Theyā€™re typically scattered, disorganized, and definitely not structured for you to be productive in any capacity.

There isnā€™t much we can do to convince the entire world to switch to a more productive workflow,Ā

BUT there are strategies that you can use in your day-to-day to maximize your productivity, creativity, you name it.Ā

The American Psycho Routine

Even if you havenā€™t watched American Psycho, Iā€™m almost positive that youā€™ve heard about the infamous morning routine.Ā

The main character follows the EXACT same routine,Ā

Every day, without fail.Ā

Yes, the dude was a total nutjob - but thatā€™s not important.Ā

Creating a set workflow that you follow is paramount to squeezing out every last drop of productivity that you have while avoiding burnout and minimizing distractions.Ā

Hereā€™s what I mean:Ā

I typically take my workday and break it into 2 sections - Everything high priority, managerial, and generally ā€œboringā€ I do the SECOND that I get into the office.Ā

Iā€™m not totally sure how to explain it - but finishing the tasks that I donā€™t want to do FIRST gives me a massive boost in creativity and productivity.Ā

(Some might even say that Iā€™m ā€œlocked inā€)

In between these blocks Iā€™ll schedule my meetings, work with other members of the team, etc.Ā

I do this so that the second half of my day totally smooth - Iā€™ll throw on a podcast, kick my feet up, and get to work on all the creative projects that I have.Ā

How to Find YOUR Routine

Listen,

Finding your ā€˜perfectā€™ routine is going to be a little trial and error.Ā

Maybe you prefer doing all the boring tasks at the end of the day,Ā

Maybe you like working in the middle of the night,Ā

Or you like to mesh everything together into a system that only makes sense to you - it doesnā€™t matter.Ā

What DOES matter is identifying these 3 things:Ā

  1. When are you the most productive

  2. When are you the most creative

  3. How can you mesh the two together in harmonyĀ

3 is the hardest one to get down, but my best recommendation is to try as many different variations of your routine as you can until you find one that sticks.

But - once you find that perfect workflow,Ā

STICK TO IT.

Tool of the Week

Before we wrap everything up, I want to give you one last nugget of wisdom for maximizing your productivity:

You can have the routine on lock, your creativity through the roof - but if you have nothing to keep you organized then youā€™ll end up right back at square 1.

Between all of our brands we use Asana,

And it has helped me 1000% with staying up to date with everything weā€™re working on, whoā€™s doing what when it needs to be done, etc. etc.

Highly customizable, easy to use, and freakishly good at keeping us on top of things.

If youā€™re not using anything to organize your projects AND your workspace - Iā€™d highly recommend you check out Asana.

(No, Iā€™m not sponsored by them, but like I said last week - I canā€™t help but give out the sauce)

Wrapping Up

And thatā€™s a wrap on todayā€™s newsletter!

I know today wasnā€™t very branding-focused like my usual newsletters, but this topic is just as important as ANYTHING you do in your career.

Nailing down your routine helps you lay the clearest path to building successful brands,Ā

And should never, ever be overlooked.Ā

But with that being said,Ā

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and Iā€™ll see you next week!
